“Sleepy lion, time for bed
Open your mind
And rest your head”

Sleepy Lion Lullaby is a bedtime book about animals, outer space, and the places we all go when we fall asleep. In 14 soothing verses and illustrations, animals are connected to the reader in delicate descriptions of our shared dream space and collective reverence for the magic in the universe.

Sleepy Lion Lullaby is great to calm children before bed, and is suitable for ages 2-5

Here are the animal illustrations featured in Sleepy Lion Lullaby. The medium I used is oil on canvas. The backgrounds are all inspired by real photos from the Hubble Space telescope of nebulas and stars. For example, the orangutan is peering at the Bubble Nebula, and the pig, rabbit, and elephant are floating in the Helix Nebula. The giraffe is in the Swan Nebula, and the polar bear is swimming past the famous Eagle Nebula. Can you tell I love nebulas?

Shyness and Bloom Second Edition (coming soon)

Shyness and Bloom is an illustrated novelette that explores themes of healing, perception and identity. With its homemade, cut-and-paste aesthetic, Shyness and Bloom has both a genuine and an organic quality. From the very first pages, the reader is pulled in by the adolescent charm of the book’s drawings and prose, and then quickly becomes aware that there are strong and steady currents of wisdom that flow through its pages.

Equally appealing to the younger and the wiser, with all its wonderment, angst, sweetness and silliness, and the two unforgettable personalities of Shyness and Bloom, this is a story that artfully shows us the solar system within the seed as it explores the inner workings and random thought patterns of a young lady learning about who she is.

246 fully illustrated pages, soft cover
