Colin experimented with water colour washes, and enjoyed watching the colours pool and mix together. Spilling and siphoning the paint off the paper resulted in a more muted look, which worked beautifully as the background to some lovely paintings. A sprinkling of table salt created an interesting texture as well. Colin practiced using a fan brush in diluted black acrylic to paint realistic looking fir trees, and his background suddenly became a sky.
